One month before moving to Dubai: your final checklist
Bring travel documents, arrival logistics and the first-week essentials into one clear handover plan for the household.
A Dubai move is easier to manage when each decision unlocks the next one. Use this guide as a working sequence, then confirm route-specific requirements with your employer or the relevant authority.
Reconfirm travel papers and the arrival plan
Check every passport, entry document and employer instruction
For each family member, verify passport validity, the issued entry permit and any original document that must travel with you. Compare the paperwork with the employer’s or sponsor’s instructions and arrange missing items before departure.
Share your flight details with the temporary-stay host and transfer provider. Keep check-in instructions, pickup point and contact numbers together. Your arrival-day checklist should include the entry record, accommodation details, visitor SIM plan and sponsor contact.

Confirm utilities, mail, storage and the handover of belongings
List the dates and providers for cancelling or transferring utilities, forwarding mail, arranging storage and handing over the shipment. Recheck insurance, customs paperwork, collection time and the mover’s contact details, and keep copies of the documents and receipts.
Prepare for your first seven days in Dubai
Plan airport transport, a visitor SIM and access to your temporary stay
Confirm how you will leave the airport, activate a phone line, collect keys or enter the accommodation, and reach someone in an emergency. Make sure at least one working contact method is available when you land.
Know which residency steps begin after entry
Understand the medical, biometric and Emirates ID sequence
Ask the sponsor for each step’s start condition, required paperwork and booking method. Some preparation can happen before departure, while medical screening and fingerprint or identity registration are typically completed in the UAE as directed. Appointment demand can make the process take longer than expected, so understand the sequence and leave room in your plan.
The source notes medical fitness testing may involve blood tests and a chest X-ray. For Dubai, published health guidance says a chest X-ray is not routinely used for initial screening; confirm the current test list for your case with the sponsor or DHA centre.
Do not assume banking or a year-long tenancy can start immediately
Banks and landlords often ask for Emirates ID, but their accepted documents and timing can vary. Ask each provider what it will require and when you can apply, then plan temporary arrangements until your ID is issued. Confirm the expected timeline with your sponsor rather than treating it as a fixed one-to-two-week promise.
Visa and medical requirements can change. Confirm the rules for your route with the authority handling your application.
