My Dubai BBQ: Shopping at Prime Gourmet, Grilling at Creek Park

My Dubai BBQ experience: shopping for quality meat and seafood at Prime Gourmet, then an evening at Creek Park with a specialist handling the setup. Original photos and practical planning tips.

Make a Dubai BBQ into an outing: choose meat and seafood at Prime Gourmet, then meet your group at Creek Park. A specialist setup service takes the equipment and seating off your list, leaving more time for the food and the people.

A good Dubai BBQ starts before anyone lights the grill. For us, it started at Prime Gourmet: good-quality meat, a seafood counter and a shop that was genuinely enjoyable to browse. Afterwards, we headed to Creek Park for an evening with work colleagues, with the equipment and setup arranged by a specialist company.

It was early July, and even after dark it was very hot. But the combination is one I would repeat: make the shopping part of the occasion, get the practical arrangements sorted, and spend the evening with people you enjoy.

Prime Gourmet: a stop I would make before any BBQ

The first thing I noticed was how clean and pleasant the shop felt. It even smelled good. That might sound like a small detail, but when you are choosing fresh ingredients, the atmosphere of the place matters. This felt like somewhere to take your time rather than rush through a shopping list.

It is not an enormous shop, but the selection felt more than sufficient. There was enough to get excited about without having to walk through a huge building. I would happily make this part of an outing with family or friends: choose what you want to eat together, then head out for the BBQ.

The meat is good, but I also really liked the shop itself. It is clean, smells lovely and has both meat and fish. This is somewhere I would want to stop before a BBQ.

For planning your own visit, Prime Gourmet lists its Umm Suqeim shop at 177 Umm Suqeim Street, Al Quoz Industrial Area 4. The branch name and the address are worth reading together when choosing your destination. Use the official shop directory for the location and opening hours.

Good meat, seafood and room to choose together

The meat quality was a highlight, and everything we ate was delicious. My photos capture some of the appeal: marbled steaks at the counter, large cuts in the chilled display and a seafood selection that makes the shop feel more rounded than a meat-only stop.

For your own BBQ, I would start with what the group actually likes eating, then build the shopping around it. Choose the main meat, add seafood if people want it, and remember the less glamorous things that complete the meal: vegetables, bread, sauces, drinking water and ice. Ask the butcher about suitable cuts, portion sizes and preparation for your grill.

That meat-and-fish combination is also part of the official concept at the Umm Suqeim flagship: Prime Gourmet and The Fishmonger share the space. You can see why that works for a group meal. Not everyone needs to choose the same thing.

Bring an insulated cooler with ice packs for the trip to the park. Buy the chilled ingredients towards the end of your errands, and keep them cold until it is time to cook. In July, I would not add a leisurely series of stops between the food shop and the BBQ.

Our Creek Park BBQ: a big lawn and a hot July evening

At Creek Park, our setup was at the edge of a very large lawn, in a barbecue space. The company had arranged the spot before we arrived. There was a real sense of space around us, and it was not particularly busy that evening.

This was a gathering with people from work, away from the usual working environment. Chairs, food and somewhere to settle in were the point. You do not need an elaborate itinerary for an evening like this.

We went in early July. It was still very hot at night, so do not expect sunset to solve the summer heat. I would bring plenty of cold drinks and choose a cooler time of year for a long, relaxed evening outside.

I have also heard that the BBQ spaces can fill up. Our quiet visit is not a reason to leave the arrangements until the last minute. Coordinate the date and arrival time with your setup company, and get an exact meeting pin rather than just telling everyone to come to Creek Park.

The easiest part: letting a specialist handle the setup

We hired a specialist company for the BBQ equipment and setup. Arriving to find the place already arranged makes a big difference. You can focus on the ingredients and your guests instead of working out how to transport chairs, a grill and everything else.

For another outing, I would look for a package that includes cleanup as well. Packing everything away at the end of a hot evening is precisely the job I would prefer not to take home with me.

  • Equipment: confirm the grill, fuel and cooking utensils.
  • The gathering space: agree on seating, tables, lighting and the exact location.
  • Food and cooking: establish whether you supply the ingredients and who does the grilling.
  • The finish: include dismantling, waste collection and cleanup in the quote.

Put your own Dubai BBQ together

  1. Choose the group and date. Set a headcount and a food budget before ordering equipment or buying ingredients.
  2. Arrange the setup. Agree on the location, access arrangements, inclusions and finish time with the company.
  3. Make Prime Gourmet the food stop. Browse together, choose the main ingredients and keep the groceries chilled.
  4. Head to the agreed park entrance. Share the parking and meeting pin with everyone; allow time to get from the car to the setup.
  5. Enjoy the evening, then leave it clean. Use the designated BBQ space, follow on-site instructions and allow enough time for packing up before the park closes.

Visit Dubai's Creek Park page is a starting point for the park location. Confirm the day's closing time and access arrangements before you set out. A car is useful for chilled groceries and group supplies; compare rental cars on Mifto if you need one for the outing.

A few practical answers

Is this a restaurant BBQ or a park BBQ?

A park BBQ. We bought ingredients at Prime Gourmet and had our gathering at Creek Park, with a specialist arranging the equipment and setup.

Do you need to own BBQ equipment?

We did not bring our own setup. Hiring a company is a useful option when you want the evening without storing or transporting all the equipment yourself.

Would I go with family or friends?

Absolutely. I went with colleagues, but choosing food together and gathering outside would work just as well with friends or family. Prime Gourmet is part of the enjoyment, not simply an errand on the way.

For me, that is the appeal of this Dubai BBQ plan: good ingredients, an enjoyable shop and a place to spend time together. Get the setup and cleanup sorted, and keep the attention where it belongs: on the food and the company.
