Khorfakkan Beach is a crescent-shaped waterfront in Sharjah, facing the Gulf of Oman on the UAE's east coast. Palm trees, a promenade and a broad sweep of sand give it the feel of a seaside town outing. It is a rewarding change of scene for visitors whose UAE trip has so far stayed on the western coast.

A seaside town on Sharjah's east coast.

The bay is the main attraction, whether experienced from the sand or through a separately arranged activity on the water. Visit Sharjah describes a three-kilometre beach with options including kayaking and parasailing, alongside boat excursions. Those are possibilities offered by operators, rather than a programme that every visitor needs to follow. A walk and time facing the water can be enough. For a family, the tourism authority also identifies swings and football goalposts along the beach, giving the sand a playful, everyday character. A boat outing towards Shark Island offers another perspective for people interested in the coastline, but that is a distinct excursion with its own conditions. The pleasure of Khorfakkan is partly the contrast between a town waterfront and the mountain country encountered on a wider east-coast journey. A visit can move from a mountain stop to the sea, with the beach becoming the place where the pace finally slows.

Planning a visit to Khorfakkan Beach

From Dubai, this works better as the main destination of a day than a brief add-on. An early start can leave a generous stretch of time at the coast, while an overnight stay makes a less compressed option for anyone who dislikes a long return journey after the beach. There is no need to include every nearby attraction: a single stop at Shees Park or Al Rafisah Dam can provide a contrast without consuming the entire day. A booked water activity needs its own allowance for preparation, conditions and changing afterwards. For a group with different interests, some time on the promenade and a meal may be easier to share than one long excursion offshore. Sea conditions determine swimming and boating suitability; the appearance of sheltered water in a photograph is not a weather forecast. Dry clothes are useful before the journey home, particularly if dinner is part of the return plan.

Location and arrival

Khorfakkan belongs to Sharjah, although a coastal itinerary may also pass through Fujairah. The named beach destination is therefore more useful than a general Fujairah pin. Waterfront parking and the beach approach are separate from the arrivals at Shees Park and Al Rafisah Dam. Those inland stops need real travel time between them, even when shown together in a suggested itinerary. The complete route from your accommodation, including the return, gives a clearer picture of the day than the outward journey alone. An overnight itinerary can devote one day to the coast and another to the mountains, avoiding repeated backtracking. For a beach-only day, a simple out-and-back journey leaves more time beside the Gulf of Oman.
