Najd Al Meqsar is a heritage mountain retreat in Khorfakkan, part of Sharjah Collection. Stone houses climb the hillside beneath a historic fort, looking out over Wadi Wishi. I stopped here during a drive with a friend: I have visited, but have not stayed overnight.
The stop I had not planned
We were exploring the Khorfakkan area when this cluster of stone buildings caught my attention. There was something striking about the way the houses followed the mountain, with the tower rising above them. I went to take a closer look and discovered that the place was a hotel.
That surprise is what stayed with me. Rather than a conventional hotel building placed in front of a view, the village itself is part of the attraction. Looking down into the valley was beautiful, and the architecture made the stop feel very different from a typical coastal resort visit.
A historic village, not just a themed hotel
The old houses and the fort belong to different parts of the site's history. Sharjah's tourism authority describes a roughly 300-year-old fortress and restored accommodation in buildings more than a century old. It is more accurate to think of a restored mountain settlement with a fort above it than to imagine every guest room inside one castle.
The first hospitality phase opened in June 2024 with seven restored accommodation units. Preserving the setting while introducing places to stay gives visitors a way to spend longer here than a brief sightseeing stop. The village's elevated position also helps explain its historic lookout role: the view is part of its purpose, not only its appeal.

Why I would return for a stay
Sharjah Tourism describes seven traditional Kareen houses with stone walls, wooden doors and rustic details. The attraction is the combination of that architecture and the mountain setting. My visit convinced me that the exterior and views deserve time; I cannot yet comment from experience on the beds, service or what an overnight stay feels like.
For a family booking, check the exact occupancy and children's arrangements for the selected house. The stepped hillside also makes access worth discussing before booking, especially with heavy luggage, a pushchair or anyone who finds stairs difficult. Ask reception about the route to your room and available assistance rather than assuming every unit has the same approach.
Wishi Restaurant and a shorter visit
The operator lists Wishi Restaurant as an all-day international restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating. Its published hours are 7:30 am to 10 pm, and its page currently states that no reservation is required. For a visit centred on a meal, confirm access for non-staying guests and availability directly, particularly for a group or a specific outdoor table.
I did not eat here, so this is not a restaurant review. It is a practical option to investigate if you want to spend longer at the village without booking a room. The meal, a hotel reservation and access to particular parts of the site should not be treated as the same thing.

Booking a stay: rooms, families and prices
For a family stay, ask specifically about houses 6 and 7. Sharjah Collection lists these as convertible to a family room. Its room descriptions also list king or queen beds, air conditioning and an outdoor sitting area. Confirm the configuration for your party rather than assuming any two houses can connect.
To price an overnight stay, use the official room-booking link and enter your arrival, departure, adults and children. Compare the final total, meal inclusions and cancellation conditions for those dates. The main property page does not provide a fixed nightly tariff, so there is no reliable year-round starting price to quote here.
For a shorter visit, keep Wishi dining and an overnight reservation separate. A restaurant visit should not be read as permission to enter occupied houses. Call +971 6 801 2020 for arrival arrangements, especially if stairs or luggage would affect your visit. These planning details supplement my visit; I have not tested an overnight stay.

Getting there from Dubai
Use Najd Al Meqsar by Sharjah Collection as the destination, then follow the property's arrival instructions. Ask for the current parking or reception pin if your navigation places you on the wrong side of the hillside. I would make the drive part of a Khorfakkan outing rather than travel here solely to take one photograph.
On our trip, we left Business Bay around 9 am and reached Al Rafisah Dam around 11 am before exploring the area. That is our experience, not a guaranteed journey time to the hotel. Departure traffic, stops and your exact destination change the timing. Our car was a Mercedes-Benz EQS; the trip was with a friend.
What to combine with Najd Al Meqsar
Al Rafisah Dam
Make the reservoir a separate waterside stop. We visited before discovering the hotel, and kayaking was available there. A booked activity needs its own meeting point and time allowance; do not assume the hotel's hillside paths are a simple shortcut to the launch area.

Al Suhub, the waterfall and the amphitheatre
Our day continued to a mountain-view terrace for lunch, then to the waterfall before heading back to Dubai. The waterfront and amphitheatre add a different setting from the mountain village. Leave room for those stops rather than treating the whole area as one walkable attraction.
