My Stay at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi

A personal stay at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi on the Corniche, with original photos, a missed breakfast and trips to The Galleria, ADGM, Saadiyat Beach and NIRI.

The St. Regis Abu Dhabi on the Corniche combines a city location with access to Nation Riviera Beach Club. Use it as a base for the waterfront, pair The Galleria with ADGM on Al Maryah Island, and make a separate outing to Saadiyat Beach and NIRI at Mamsha.

I stayed at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi on the Corniche with friends. There was a welcome treat, a lobby worth stopping to look at, and one very disappointing discovery: breakfast had already finished by the time I got there.

But the thing that stays with me most is the location. The Corniche is genuinely beautiful. This was also a trip to The Galleria, ADGM, Saadiyat Beach and NIRI, so the hotel became part of a bigger Abu Dhabi escape rather than the whole itinerary.

This is the St. Regis at Nation Towers on the Corniche, not The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort. We visited Saadiyat separately.

The stay: a grand lobby and a small welcome

The lobby does not do understated. A sweeping staircase, ornate dark railings, tall columns and hanging lanterns fill the room; the red roses in my photograph almost become a landmark of their own. It is the sort of hotel interior where the architecture is part of the occasion.

I also remember something like welcome chocolates being brought over. A small gesture, but one of the details I remember from the stay. Alongside all that grand architecture, it gives the arrival a more personal note.

For me, the strongest reason to choose this hotel is the location. The hotel is beautiful, but having the Corniche as part of the stay is what really makes it.

The Corniche is a reason to stay here

A city hotel and a beach holiday do not have to be separate choices. Here, the appeal is the combination: the Corniche waterfront, the surrounding city and a proper hotel to come back to. You can make room for a walk without treating it as another attraction to tick off.

The hotel's official listing includes access to Nation Riviera Beach Club, with a private beach, pool, fitness facilities and a children's club. That is the hotel's beach option; the Saadiyat outing further down this article is a separate part of the trip.

For a stay with friends, I like the idea of leaving some of the day unplanned. A hotel booking should not mean spending every hour inside it, but a city break should not turn into a checklist either.

The breakfast I missed

This is my one very practical takeaway: check when breakfast finishes when you arrive. It ended earlier than I expected, and I missed it. I was genuinely disappointed.

I was looking forward to breakfast and did not make it in time. Next time, I am asking for the finishing time at check-in and planning around it.

The hotel lists The Terrace on the Corniche among its restaurants. Before booking, compare the breakfast-included rate with the room-only option; at check-in, ask for the breakfast venue and hours for your stay. The hotel dining page is a useful starting point.

The Galleria and ADGM: the Al Maryah stop

We also went to The Galleria on Al Maryah Island and ADGM. Put these together when planning your own trip: they belong to the same part of the city, whereas the hotel is on the Corniche.

The Galleria brings shopping, restaurants and entertainment into one stop. My photograph of the Apple store captures some of the architecture as well as the retail. It is a useful change of pace between time outside and an evening meal.

A small naming trap: The Galleria Al Maryah Island is not Nation Galleria beside the St. Regis. Use the full name when setting your destination.

ADGM is Abu Dhabi's international financial centre. Seeing this district alongside the Corniche and Saadiyat gives the trip a different dimension: beaches and hotels sit within a city that also has a substantial business life. For a leisure itinerary, think of this as a look around the district rather than a scheduled tour of its offices.

Saadiyat Beach and NIRI: a separate seaside outing

Saadiyat was another part of our trip. The beach photograph tells the story well: a broad stretch of sand, waterfront buildings and the light dropping towards evening. Keep this distinct from the Corniche. It is a separate destination, worth giving its own space in the itinerary.

We also visited NIRI Restaurant & Bar. Located at Mamsha Al Saadiyat, it is a homegrown Japanese restaurant, which makes it a natural restaurant stop to pair with this side of the island. NIRI's official website has the restaurant details, and Experience Abu Dhabi introduces its move from a Yas Mall pop-up to Mamsha.

The interior is a contrast to the St. Regis lobby: exposed ceiling elements, a timber framework and shelves of bottles behind the bar. Pairing a grand Corniche hotel with a Japanese restaurant on Saadiyat gives the trip more variety than keeping every meal inside the hotel.

How I would put this Abu Dhabi escape together

The easiest way to use these stops is to think in three areas, not a long list of individual pins. This is a suggested arrangement, rather than a fixed timetable.

  • Corniche: check in at The St. Regis, leave time for the waterfront and enjoy the hotel without rushing straight out again.
  • Al Maryah Island: combine The Galleria and a look around the ADGM district in the same outing.
  • Saadiyat: give the beachfront and NIRI their own part of the day, with a restaurant reservation arranged around your plans.

Coming from Dubai, a car gives you flexibility between these areas; taxis also work for a hotel-based trip. Set the hotel destination to The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, Nation Towers, Corniche. Check live directions from your actual starting point, then group the island stops rather than driving back and forth repeatedly.

For a drive from Dubai, open the Corniche hotel on Google Maps. You can also compare rental cars on Mifto for the trip.

Before booking The St. Regis Abu Dhabi

  • Choose the right property: the Corniche hotel at Nation Towers, not the Saadiyat resort.
  • Compare the whole rate: room category, breakfast, taxes and cancellation terms on your dates.
  • Make breakfast an actual plan: confirm its closing time when you check in.
  • Leave time outside: the Corniche is one of the strongest reasons to pick this location.
  • Book NIRI separately: it is at Mamsha Al Saadiyat, not inside the hotel.

Check rooms and availability at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi and visit NIRI for menus and reservations.

What I would repeat is the combination: a beautiful hotel, a beautiful waterfront and enough time to see other parts of Abu Dhabi with friends. What I would change is very simple. I would make it to breakfast.
